Snakes at Christmas

Written by: Sarah Thrasher Aug. 2005 Age 4

I was reminded of this story Sarah dictated to Granny Vee last year.

Once there was a long snake who was trying to find food for her brothers and sisters and husband and grandmother and papa.   When something happened, she slithered right into a hole that was her home. Then she slithered out and then she found a big, big mess that so many animals made. It shocked her. She was so so so surprised. Then she saw that something that shocked her. It was a bottle cap. She knew what it was. Some boys picked up all the snakes up. They dug a hole and put food in the hole. Then the snakes wanted to get out so the boys and girls picked them up and took them home. The mom noticed, but they didn’t care.  Then it was almost Christmas and they put them in a cage and Santa Claus came. Santa Claus sneaked in and saw the snakes. He counted them. 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5. He put them back in his cage. Then it was Halloween. They went back to their hole and they never, ever came out again. The end.
